I’m Spanish, and the coast has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest and happiest memories are tied to the sea — long summer days that ended with salt in my hair and sand that somehow followed me home for a week. What started as childhood summers slowly turned into a genuine fascination with just how varied this country’s coastline really is. The same nation gives you wind-battered Atlantic surf beaches in the south, near-desert volcanic coves in Almería, and soft turquoise inlets tucked into pine forest on the Costa Brava. I never got tired of the contrast.

Somewhere along the way, the habit became a bit of an obsession. I started seeking out the beaches guidebooks skip — the ones with no road sign, no chiringuito, and no crowd, just a steep little path and a view that makes the walk worth it. But I’ve also spent plenty of days on the famous, obvious beaches, because sometimes the popular choice really is the right one, and I think someone should be willing to say so honestly.

Why I Started This Site

I got tired of choosing between two kinds of beach content: glossy listicles that recycle the same five photos, or forum threads buried under comments from a decade ago. I wanted something in between — real, specific, useful information, written by someone who cares about getting the details right rather than just filling a page. So I decided to build it myself.

How I Think About Beaches

My approach is simple: I’d rather be honest than impressive. If a beach has difficult access, unreliable parking, or gets uncomfortably packed in August, I’ll tell you — because knowing that in advance is exactly what makes a trip go smoothly. I care about the small practical details that guidebooks tend to gloss over, and about the character of a place: what makes one cove feel completely different from the next one along the coast.

Spain’s coastline is enormous, and I’m making my way through it steadily, region by region, adding new guides as I go.
